Kamal Qureshi

Kamal Hameed Qureshi (born July 29, 1970 in Rawalpindi , Pakistan ) is a Danish doctor and politician of the People's Socialist Party (SF).

biography

Kamal Qureshi was born in Pakistan to parents of Indian origin . When he was five years old, his family moved to Copenhagen . After graduating from high school, Qureshi studied medicine at the University of Copenhagen . In 2000 he became a doctor.

Qureshi started his political career in the radical Venstre youth organization Radikal Ungdom , but quickly switched to SF. Shortly afterwards he was elected to the SF party executive committee and put up as a Folketing candidate. Since 2001 he has been a member of parliament and spokesman for health and equality policy for the SF parliamentary group.

Over time, he has participated in various humanitarian and volunteer missions. Among other things, he was sent to Iraq as a doctor in 2003 by the Danish People's Church . In 2004 he was the initiator of the “Frihed til forskellighed” campaign (Freedom to be Different), which critically examines current government policy and its image of man.
