The bolt handle is the handle or operating lever of the cylinder lock of firearms. It is connected to the locking piece or the locking bolt of the lock.

Cylinder locks with a bolt handle can be found on bolt action rifles  - mainly bolt action rifles  . According to the requirements for the construction and equipment of the weapon, bolt handles in straight form can usually be used for military use without a telescopic sight on the system ( breech ); in cranked form, they are mostly used for hunting with a telescopic sight mounted on the system. At the end of the handle of the bolt handle is the bolt handle ball, which can also be designed in a different shape and decorated with high-quality hunting rifles or made of wood.

One of the features of left-handed rifles is the bolt handle on the left side of the weapon. Modern repeating systems with cylinder locks have a small part of a side-changing stop of the bolt handle (for left or right-handed shooters).

Small- bore rifles often have breeches with bolt handle locking, in which the bolt handle locks the bolt by engaging in a corresponding recess in the breechblock.
