history

Old routing of the railway line

The Kampstrasse was, as it is now, used as a connecting road.

Before 2008, two tram lines ran through Kampstrasse, which today have been laid underground and run under the city center as U 43 and U 44. Since the train went underground, the conversion into a boulevard began

Conversion to a boulevard

According to Aktion Boulevard Kampstrasse , the plans were submitted as a competition entry. According to the plans of the Atelier Fritschi + Stahl in 1999, this section of the city center should have more quality of stay.

In 2008, after tram lines 403 and 404 (west-east route) had been laid underground, the section between St. Petrikirche and Westentor was converted into a pedestrian zone, where there is also a playground. The customer center of the Dortmunder Stadtwerke has moved from the stop of the same name and is located in one of the new buildings. According to the city a more attractive link between the City and the could by the already redesigned Westentorallee Dortmunder U are produced. The section between Reinoldikirche and Ostentor (Brüderweg) was rebuilt in a similar way to Westentorallee.

The boulevard is divided into three segments. The Westentorallee forms the western and the Brüderweg the eastern part. Several avenues of plane trees were or are to be created, through which a traffic road runs in the middle and wide sidewalks to the north and south. The trees of the avenues are illuminated by light steles and floor spotlights; The planning is supplemented by playgrounds for children and young people.
