Kan (unit of weight)
The Kan ( Japanese 貫 , also: kamme 貫 目 ) is a pearl weight (see: old Japanese weight units ) for cultured pearls .
One Kan is equivalent to a thousand momme, i.e. 3.75 kg .
The Kan was officially established in the Japanese Weights and Measures Act of 1891 . It is still used worldwide to indicate the weight of cultured pearls.
