Sewer shut-off bladder "Gully egg" when not inflated

A gully quick release is also called (sewer or pipe) sealing bag , sewer shut-off bladder or gully egg and is a sealing system (partially patented) made of plastic or rubber that is suitable for sealing gullies and similar devices. The gully quick release is an alternative or supplement to manhole covers .

To do this, the closure is inserted into the drain / shaft and pumped up there with a gas, usually compressed air from a compressed air cylinder or the integrated air tank. When inflated, it prevents liquids such as oil, petrol (after traffic accidents), contaminated fire fighting water or other hazardous substances (in the event of chemical accidents ) from entering the sewer system. Alternatively, such closures can be tightened over tank leaks with tension belts in order to close them.
