Mirko Bogović (born February 2, 1816 in Varaždin , † May 4, 1893 in Zagreb ) was a Croatian poet and politician.

He attended the cadet school in Petrovaradin and studied in Szombathely and Zagreb . He worked as a lawyer, as well as a writer and politically active.

He edited the magazine Neven (marigold); Because of a poem by Ivan Filipović printed there , he was sentenced to two years in prison with him. Later he held several political offices, including Župan of Zágráb County and a member of the Sabor .

His poems dealt with politics, patriotism and love.

During the Bach absolutism he was one of the most important literary personalities in Croatia. He is also one of the authors of the Croatian novella Pripovijesti and he was also a playwright with a politically social tendency. In the works Frankopan and Stjepan, posljednji kralj bosanski , he takes a critical look at Croatian society.
