The trolleybus route Ogizawa-Kurobedamu ( Japanese 関 電 ト ン ネ ル ト ロ リ ー バ ス , Kanden tonneru tororībasu , also Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus ) was operated between the terminus Ogizawa in the area of the city of Ōmachi in the prefecture of Nagano and Kurobe Kurobe-Kurobe-Kurobe . The latter is located in the suburb of Tateyama City in Toyama Prefecture . The trolleybus route was 6.1 kilometers long, of which 5.8 kilometers were in the tunnel.
The tunnel was built for the construction of the hydropower plant on the Kurobe Dam. It passes under the 2678 meter high Akazawa Mountain. After completion of the dam, a trolleybus route was built in the tunnel, which was integrated into the tourist Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route . It was opened on August 1, 1964 and was legally considered a railway line. The operating company was the power company Kansai Denryoku , or Kanden for short .
The route was single-lane with a turnout roughly in the middle of the route. The trolleybuses ran every 30 minutes from mid-April to the end of November, with convoys of up to seven trolleybuses being formed.
On April 23, 1996, another trolleybus route between Murodō and Daikanbō was put into operation in the course of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route .
In the end there were 16 trolleybuses available, they had the road numbers 301 to 316 and were built between 1993 and 1996. The vehicles also had an auxiliary engine . This was used for journeys in the non-electrified depot, which is located within the Ogizawa loop.
On November 30, 2018, the trolleybus operation was stopped at the end of the season. From 2019 the route will be operated with battery buses.
