kantipark.ch was a non-commercial Swiss internet radio . In 2011 it was named web radio of the year. According to its own statements, kantipark.ch was the first Swiss student internet radio.
General
kantipark.ch was run and moderated almost exclusively and on a voluntary basis by around 30 students from the canton school at Burggraben in St. Gallen . It was stationed in the basement of this school and was therefore the second medium at the school alongside the newspaper “Ultimatum”.
history
The cantons Felix Unholz and Jonas Vollmer - who worked for the local school newspaper up to this point in time - had the idea in 2007 to set up a school radio. As part of their joint Matura work, they planned projects, spoke to the school management and, with financial support from the alumni association “OUT”, were able to install a simple radio studio in the basement of the school. In the spring of 2008 - more precisely on “füftä füftä füfi füf” (on May 5th at 5:05 pm) - kantipark.ch went on air.
In the summer of 2012 the radio studio was renovated and large parts of the technical equipment were replaced. The fundraising took place through the alumni association and crowdfunding . In November 2016, broadcasting had to be stopped due to a lack of interest on the part of the students.

Most of the weekdays, moderated programs were broadcast at prime time in the evenings and distributed exclusively via the Internet. The rest of the time, an automated non-stop music program was running. On the website, those responsible published regular reports on current events in the world, in St. Gallen and at school. These were supplemented by audio contributions that could also be heard on the transmitter.
