Canton police of Bern
The Canton Police of Bern is the canton police force of the Canton of Bern . It is the only cantonal police force , after the former municipal police force was absorbed into it by 2011.
history
The canton police was founded in 1804 as the " Landjägerkorps des Kantons Bern". The Landjäger should prevent beggars and vagrants from entering the canton, especially at the border stations of the canton. In 1894 the border guards were transferred to the new Federal Border Guard Corps , the police controls in the city are carried out by the municipality itself. The canton police are responsible for combating crime.
Stefan Blättler has been in command since 2005. The regional police and the police stations in the Seeland-Bernese Jura, Mittelland-Emmental-Oberaargau, Bern and Oberland are subordinate to the canton police in Bern.
The operations center of the canton police is expected to be integrated into the joint cantonal operations center (KEZ) from 2021 .
