Chancellor principle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The chancellor principle is a principle of government in the Federal Republic of Germany . According to Art. 65, Paragraph 1 of the Basic Law , the Federal Chancellor determines “the guidelines of politics and is responsible for them” ( authority to issue guidelines ).

The chancellor principle can lead to conflicts within the cabinet if the chancellor declares an individual question to be a “top priority” and the minister concerned has a different opinion on the subject.
