The Promontorium Kelvin (also Cape Kelvin ) is a promontory located on the moon , which protrudes into the southeastern part of the Mare Humorum . It has a diameter of 45 kilometers. About 150 kilometers southwest of the foothills lies the Vitello impact crater , and about 155 kilometers west of the Puiseux crater .
Directly south of the Promontorium Kelvin is the 78 kilometer long Rupes Kelvin demolition , which was named after the promontory. It represents the edge of the Mare Humorum.
The Kelvin Promontory was named after Lord Kelvin in 1935 .
