The Cape York is a cape at the Greenland northwest coast. It is located in the south of the Hayes Peninsula about 40  kilometers west of Savissivik and about 750 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of the town of Uummannaq on Baffin Bay , coordinates: 75 ° 54 ′ 38.3 ″  N , 66 ° 24 ′ 44.6 ″  W and forms the northwestern boundary of Melville Bay .

The cape was discovered by Sir John Ross on August 16, 1818 and named after Frederick Augustus, Duke of York and Albany on his birthday.

Cape York was one of the many places that Robert Peary visited in 1894 during his second Arctic expedition. It is best known for the Cape York meteorite .
