Kaplaken

The Kaplaken (also Kapplaken , from the Netherlands ) is a special payment that the master in addition in case of successful delivery of the cargo by the load receiver at the agreed Heuer obtained. The Kaplaken is freely negotiable and in the 19th century was, for example, 5 to 6 percent of wages.
