description

The cap vulture is a comparatively small, about 60 cm tall vulture with uniform, dark main plumage and a pink-red feathered head with a gray, downy-feathered back. Its wingspan is between 155 and 170 cm. The bird is common in Africa south and west of the Sahara with the exception of the tropical rainforest and the extreme south of the continent. It breeds all year round. Like some other representatives of his subfamily, he is a scavenger , in the vicinity of settlements he also recycles rubbish including slaughterhouse waste and human excrement . It penetrates to the coast, where it prey on marine arthropods, molluscs and fish.
