The Capuchin Monastery of Liebfrauen is a convent of Capuchin friars in Frankfurt am Main . Located directly at the Liebfrauenkirche , the community is dedicated to pastoral care, offering church services, confession and welfare. Under the umbrella of the Franziskustreff Foundation, the convention is committed to helping the homeless and people in need.

Franziskustreff

The Franziskustreff offers breakfast to homeless and poor people in the city center of Frankfurt am Main and was founded in 1992 by brother Wendelin Gerigk. Up to 200 people in need take advantage of the offer every day. The Treff also offers social counseling. Around 45 voluntary helpers support the work. The meeting is headed by Brother Michael Wies.

Franziskustreff Foundation

The "Franziskustreff-Stiftung" was founded by the German Capuchin Province with the aim of continuing the care work for the needy. It received its recognition as a charitable and non-profit foundation on March 13, 2013, the day Pope Francis was elected. Brother Paulus Terwitte chairs the foundation . In 2018 he received the plaque of honor from the city of Frankfurt for his commitment .

Spiritual and cultural life

In the Liebfrauenkirche and the rooms of the convent, the Capuchin community offers a wide range of options. Including Eucharistic celebrations, ecumenical prayers, confessions, meditations in silence, family worship services, pastoral care and a meeting point for women and senior citizens. In addition, the convent annually puts together a program of musical and cultural events and takes part in municipal activities such as the Christmas market or the Luminale .
