Cardiac remodeling

Cardiac remodeling (also ventricular remodeling) refers to the remodeling processes of the heart that can lead to heart failure . Pathological (e.g. late complications of myocardial infarction ) but also physiological processes can be the cause . Characteristic one are fibrosis , dilatation and hypertrophy of the chamber musculature. The development processes are not yet fully understood, but the involvement of the RAAS has been proven . This is used pharmacotherapeutically after a heart attack through the use of ACE inhibitors .
