Karel Čapek Prize
The Karel Čapek Prize (Cena Karla Čapka) has been awarded by the Czech PEN Club every even year since 1994 . The literary prize was founded on the occasion of the 1994 International PEN Congress in Prague. It is awarded to an author who has made a contribution to the enforcement or defense of “democratic and humanistic values”. The bronze trophy is in the form of an open book showing a portrait of Karel Čapek . The award is endowed with 100,000 crowns .
