Karel Freja

Karel Freja (* 1877 ; † 1937 ) was a Czech football player and functionary. Freja is considered to be the first outstanding personality in Czech football and one of the best Bohemian players of the late 19th century.

Player career

As a teenager, Karel Freja was the captain of the team at the Lesser Town High School in Prague . From 1896 the universally applicable Freja played for the then best Czech team, Slavia Prague . Freja was the team's captain and one of their best players. In 1900, the then 23-year-old Freja moved to ČAFC Vinohrady . A year later he ended his active career there and became chairman of the Bohemian Football Association.

Association official

Karel Freja was the first chairman of the Czech football association Český svaz footballový , which was founded on October 19, 1901 in Prague. In 1903 Freja was replaced in this position by the journalist Vilém Heinz-Henry.
