The Karhumäki Karhu 48B was a four-seat sports and touring aircraft produced by the Finnish manufacturer Veljekset Karhumäki .

History and construction

The Karhu 48B was a Finnish four-seater touring aircraft from the 1950s that could also be equipped with floats or skis. The aircraft was a strutted high-wing aircraft with a non-retractable tail wheel landing gear and was powered by an air-cooled Lycoming O-435 A six-cylinder boxer engine. The aircraft was developed to be used in the vastness of Finland from unpaved runways. The first flight took place on July 20, 1948. However, since many former military aircraft were available that could be purchased cheaply, only two machines were built. One of the two machines was in use until 1973.
