Karin Prohaska

Karin Prohaska (* 1945 in Harthau ) is a German pop singer who was very popular in the GDR .

Life

She was born as Karin Herold. She attended the EOS in Karl-Marx-Stadt , where she played and sang in a school band. After graduating from high school, her musical talent was discovered and she was invited to studio recordings in Berlin . Her very first title Until the wedding everything is good again developed into a huge hit. It took first place in the GDR's annual hit parade in 1965. The second hit, I choose my groom on my own , also made it into the top ten. Then the West German version was created with the Englishwoman Helen Shapiro . Karin Prohaska was so successful with the following recordings that her records were released in East and West. In 1969 she retired from the music business, went to Moscow with her husband for a few years and then worked as an administrative manager. After the fall of the Berlin Wall , many of her hits appeared on various CDs.
