Karinainen [ ˈkɑrinɑi̯nɛn ] ( Swedish. Karinais ) is a former municipality in southwest Finland . In early 2005 it was incorporated into Pöytyä .

Karinainen is located in the north of the Varsinais-Suomi landscape around nine kilometers southeast of the community center of Pöytyä. The municipality of Karinainen had an area of ​​92.41 km². The largest settlement center ( taajama ) in the former municipal area is the place Kyrö. It was created by a 1876-built station around and surpassed soon the Kirchdorf of Karinainen, the former center of the village, on population. No passenger trains have stopped in Kyrö since 1990. The last population of Karinainen was 2,457. The community was monolingual in Finnish .

The main attraction of Karinainen is the wooden church from 1835, painted red. The Karinainen parish was established in 1872 when Marttila broke away . At the beginning of 2005 Karinainen was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Pöytyä.
