Karisöödi (German Luisenruh or Karrisödt ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Rõuge (until 2017 Mõniste ) in the Estonian district of Võru ( Werro ).

Location and description

The village in the extreme southeast of the country has 46 inhabitants (as of 2004). It is located on the Peetri River ( Peetri jõgi ) and is part of its landscape protection area. Karisöödi used to be the center of the Mõniste manor.

In Karisöödi Park, ten meters from the banks of the Peetri River, there is a three hundred year old oak tree . It is 23 meters high. The trunk has a diameter of 4.4 meters.

Estonia's southernmost point is located two kilometers southeast of the Naha ( Naha talu ) farm belonging to Karisöödi .
