history
The party-affiliated foundation was founded on October 19, 1959 as Karl-Arnold-Bildungsstätte eV and was initially based in Bad Godesberg (Venner Straße) for around four decades with an educational institution for young people and adults . It is mainly financed from public funds. Like all party-affiliated foundations, it tries to influence society in the interests of its party. As an institution for political education , it is aimed in particular at citizens in North Rhine-Westphalia. As a result of the relocation of the seat of government to Berlin (1999/2000) the foundation had to give up its previous conference center at the beginning of 2002 and moved to the Adam-Stegerwald-Haus in Königswinter. With the closure of the Adam Stegerwald House at the end of 2013, the Karl Arnold Foundation relocated to Cologne.
