Josef Weinhold

Josef Johann Weinhold (born May 1, 1906 in Müglitz , Moravia , † June 27, 1994 in Hanover ) was a German engineer and university professor .

Life

Weinhold passed his second state examination at the German Technical University in Brno in 1929 . He then worked as an assistant at the chair for elasticity and strength theory at the DTH Brno until 1938 , where he was also awarded a Dr. techn. received his doctorate .

In 1938 Weinhold completed his habilitation in Brno for strength theory and testing. From 1939 to 1941 he was a consultant at the strength testing center of the Reich Aviation Ministry .

In 1941 Weinhold returned to the DTH Brno as a lecturer , where he became associate professor and institute director in 1942 and remained there until 1945. In 1947 he switched to teaching at the State Engineering School in Esslingen am Neckar . In 1951 he was given a teaching position at the Technical University of Stuttgart . In 1955 he became a professor at the Technical University of Hanover and became director of the Lower Saxony Materials Testing Office (for building materials). His main research interests were in the areas of concrete strength and road construction.

Weinhold was married to Eleonore Würfel (* 1904 in Vienna , † 2001 in Hanover). The couple had two daughters and their son Friedrich.
