Karl-Heinz Gärtner

Karl-Heinz Gärtner (born August 19, 1953 ) is a former German basketball coach and player.

Life

Gärtner was a national basketball player for the German Democratic Republic . In 1986 he took over the coaching position at the HSG TU Magdeburg from Horst Neuhof and led the team in 1988 and 1989 to win the GDR championship by dethroning the series winner AdW Berlin.

In 2009 and 2015, Gärtner participated as a member of the German selection at the Senior World Championships in Prague and Orlando . Even at the federal level he remained connected to basketball in the old man's age and played with Magdeburg at German championships. Gärtner temporarily looked after the Wolmirstedt Baskets as a trainer .
