Karl-Heinz Scheffer

Karl-Heinz Scheffer is a German canoe athlete.

Career

Scheffer comes from Schwerte in Westphalia . Since early youth he has dedicated himself to canoeing. He was a member of the canoe and surf club Schwerte e. V. , where he and his partner Jürgen Steinschulte took part in national and international competitions.

The Steinschulte / Scheffer couple won their first national championship title in 1966. The Steinschulte / Scheffer team repeated winning the title of German champions in the Canadian two-man in 1967 and in the team in 1968 (together with Hans-Otto Schumacher and Wilhelm Baues ).

In 1969 and 1973 he won the world championship title twice in white water slalom with the proven team of the Schwerter canoe team. Even before that, at the World Championships in 1967, the team had won a bronze medal. At the 1974 World Championships, they finally won a silver medal.

For his sporting successes, he and the team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on November 11, 1969 .
