Maximilian "Max" Klein von Diepold (born October 9, 1873 in Wilhelmshöhe near Kassel , † 1949 in Düsseldorf ) was a German landscape and animal painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Klein von Diepold was the son of the Düsseldorf painter Friedrich Emil Klein and his wife, the poet Friederika Wilhelmina Ada von Diepold, as well as the brother of the painters Leo and Julian Klein von Diepold and the art writer Rudolf Klein-Diepold . He grew up in Düsseldorf since 1873, where he received his first painting lessons from his father. From 1889 he studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There was Heinrich Lauenstein his teacher. Then he switched to the Antwerp Art Academy . With Poppe Folkerts , Paul Ernst Wilke , August Heitmüller , his brother Julian and other people, he founded the "Künstlerbund Norderney" in 1926.

Klein von Diepold painted landscapes on the north German coast, in the Westerwald and above all in the Eifel .
