Friedrich Emil Klein

Friedrich Emil Klein (born March 3, 1841 in Elberfeld , † December 1, 1921 in Düsseldorf ) was a German painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Klein received his first drawing and painting lessons from his father, an important draftsman. From 1857 to 1860 he attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There were Karl Mueller and Karl Ferdinand Sohn his most important teacher. In 1860 he went to Antwerp . In 1862 he became a student of Julius Schrader's studio in Berlin . In 1864 he married in Dortmund the poet Friederika Wilhelmina Ada Diepold (* 1844), daughter of the copper mine owner Carl Theodor von Diepold (1810-1862) and his wife Susanne Cornelia Maria, born of Beaufort (* 1807). The couple had five sons and three daughters, among them the later painters Leo , Julian and Maximilian (Max) Klein von Diepold and the later art writer Rudolf Klein-Diepold , the husband of the painter Julie Wolfthorn . In the 1860s the family lived in Cologne . In 1872 she moved to Kassel - Wilhelmshöhe . In 1873/1874 Klein and his family settled permanently in Düsseldorf, where he lived at Schützenstrasse 53 in 1889. In the 1880s (1881, 1886) he received orders from Prince Georg zu Solms-Braunfels . For this he stayed in Braunfels .
