The Karl Marx Monument in Fürstenwalde / Spree was originally 1904 as Bismarckstein at the eastern entrance to the city park from the Schützenstraße been built and was in the GDR for Karl Marx rededicated . After being partially destroyed and stolen in the 1990s, it was renewed in 2003.

The memorial on Schützenstraße , which was renamed Karl-Marx-Straße during the GDR era, consists of a pile of boulders . The largest stone has a plaque with a relief of Karl Marx and his signature. It was originally built in 1904 as the Bismarckstein and carried a plaque with the image of the first German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck . In the 1950s, the monument was rededicated and the new plaque was attached. In the 1990s the badge was stolen by unknown perpetrators and renewed in 2003 on the 120th anniversary of Karl Marx's death at the initiative of the PDS faction in the Fürstenwalder city council.
