Karl Ameisbichler

Karl Ameisbichler (born March 25, 1927 in Klagenfurt ) is a former Austrian boxer .

The 1.72 m tall "White Bomber" trained at the former boxing department of the KAC in Klagenfurt and was Austrian heavyweight champion four times in a row from 1947 to 1950. The highlight of his amateur career was his participation in the 14th Olympic Games in London in 1948 , where he lost in the round of 16 against the British local hero Jack Gardner by knockout and thus ended up in 9th place.

From 1952 to 1956 he fought as a professional boxer 29 fights in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Italy and France. He was on July 17, 1953 by a knockout victory against Hein Wiesner, Austrian light heavyweight champion. He fought a significant fight on September 3, 1955 against the Italian European champion Artenio Calzavara , which he was defeated in the fifth round by knockout.

In the course of his boxer career he had over 300 wins, more than 220 of them prematurely.
