Karl Birk

Karl Birk (* 1884 in Vienna ; † October 15, 1951 in Quedlinburg ) was an Austrian theater director and actor.

Birk was born in Vienna, but trained as an actor and director in Prague. After completing his training, he worked as a dramaturge and director in Chemnitz, then at the Neustädter Schauspielhaus in Dresden. Birk also worked as a theater critic and trained theater actors himself. Despite being 80 percent disabled, he made it a point to participate in all practical matters. He also brought out various books on theater studies. Most recently he worked at the Städtische Bühne Quedlinburg .
