Karl Georg Götz

Karl Georg Götz (born December 24, 1930 in Berlin ) is a German biophysicist .

Life

In 1956 he obtained his diploma from the University of Göttingen (shape determination of macroions in solution from dynamic conductivity anisotropy). For his diploma thesis, he conducted research at what was then the Max Planck Institute for Physical Chemistry with Karl-Friedrich Bonhoeffer . After graduation in 1961 (methods for the study of micellar state amphiphilic substances in aqueous solutions) at the Max Planck Institute for Physical Chemistry in Göttingen he was from 1961 to 1968 research assistant in Werner Reichardt Department Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen Max Planck Institute for Biology . From 1968 to 1998 he was director at the newly founded Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen. Since 1999 he has been a retired scientific member of this institute. Since 1974 he has been an honorary professor at the University of Tübingen .

His main research interests are information processing in the nervous system of the fruit fly Drosophila, neural foundations of visual orientation in space, mutation-related disturbances in running and flight control, search strategies and learning behavior.
