Karl Graeser (publisher)

Karl Graeser (born February 5, 1849 in Mediaş , Transylvania , † August 22, 1899 ) was a Viennese publisher.

He began his book printer apprenticeship with Samuel Filtsch in Sibiu in 1862 , then went to Vienna and in 1869 to Olomouc to the publisher Eduard Hölzel , whose son-in-law he became in 1875.

In 1877 he acquired the publishing company Sallmayer & Co. in Vienna and founded his own publishing business. He published mainly school books and commercial and arts and crafts literature.

He was appointed to the Imperial Council for his work in the Association of Austro-Hungarian Booksellers and the Vienna Corporation.

After his death, his widow led by BG Teubner in Leipzig, the company Carl Grasses & Co. continued.
