The Karl Marbach GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of tools, machines and materials for the packaging industry, headquartered in Heilbronn (Germany). The family company , founded in 1923, is managed in the third generation by Peter Marbach. Bernd Klenk, Stefanie Schier and Markus Britsch are also part of the Marbach management team.

Marbach stamping technology

Marbach is the world market leader in the field of die-cutting technology. The international folding box, cigarette, corrugated cardboard, label and technical industries are supplied. In addition to punching dies, Marbach also offers other tools and aids for punching such as creasing systems, stripping and blanking tools as well as special techniques. End products that are manufactured with Marbach tools are e.g. B. perfume, pharmaceutical or food packaging. In addition, Marbach has launched its own developments such as the mpower punching technology for minimal set-up and set-up times , which are standard in the industry today. In 2004, Marbach launched its self-developed marbabraille solutions for standardized tool technology for embossing Braille on pharmaceutical packaging . Marbach developed the first ecologically sustainable carrier board and launched it in 2009 under the name greenplate . In addition to the production of cutting dies, Marbach supplies the cutting die industry with machines and materials. Since mid-2018, the group has been offering industry-specific training courses in the area of ​​die-cutting packaging as part of the Marbach Academy.

This division of the Marbach Group produces thermoforming tools as well as tools for form, fill and seal systems for the plastics processing industry. Marbach Werkzeugbau is the technology and market leader for complex thermoforming tools for cups, lids and dishes with up to 140 cavities.

Marbach Group

The Marbach Group employs 1,500 people at over 20 locations worldwide. In Germany, in addition to its headquarters in Heilbronn, Marbach also has branches in Bünde, Haan and Geyer. There are also subsidiaries in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the USA, China and Malaysia. and Mexico. Joint ventures exist with Arden Dies Ltd. in Great Britain and with Marbach Egypt in Egypt. In 1923 the Marbach company was founded by Karl H. Marbach (1898–1979) and two partners; it manufactured forged knives for the shoe industry. In 1924 Karl H. Marbach became the sole owner, and in 1926 the production of steel strips began. In 1955 Karl G. Marbach (born March 30, 1927 - March 1, 2012) joined the company. In 1957 the toolmaking division was established. In 1960 the first thermoforming and punching tool was manufactured. In 1968 the production of rotary dies for the corrugated cardboard industry began. In 1972 the first laser cutting system in Europe was installed. In 1984 one took a share in the company Arden Dies Ltd. in Stockport, UK. In 1985 the company split into die-cutting technology and toolmaking. Marbach Werkzeugbau AG in Sempach, Switzerland, was founded. In 1988 Peter G. Marbach joined the company. The company Alfred Schimmel Bandstahlschnitte GmbH in Bünde, Germany, was taken over. In 1989 the company Splittdorf GmbH in Haan, Germany, was taken over. In 1990 Marbach installed the marbajet waterjet cutting system . In 1991 Calwart SA in Wissous, France, was taken over. In 1992 Dreher GmbH in Geyer, Germany was taken over. A branch of the company Calwart SA was opened in Rouillac, France. In 1995 the company Marbach Egypt was founded as a joint venture. In 1996 the mpower punching technology was brought onto the market. In 1997 the companies Marbach Tool & Equipment, Inc. in Elkhart, USA, and Marbach-Simet Sp.zo.o. in Tarnowskie Góry, Poland. In 2000 Marbach opened a sales office in Beijing, China. Marbach France SARL was founded in Decines Charpieu, France. A franchising contract was signed with OOO Raster-Technology in Moscow, Russia. In 2001 Karl G. Marbach received the Diemaker of the Year award from the IADD (International Association of Diecutting and Diemaking). The company signed a franchise agreement with Marbach Saudi in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 2004 the marbabraille solutions were developed. The company Graphitid in Brno, Czech Republic, including all subsidiaries in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Ukraine was taken over. In 2005 a street was named Karl-Marbach-Straße in honor of Karl H. Marbach . In March 2017 the company address of the headquarters was changed to Karl-Marbach-Straße 1. The occasion was the 90th birthday of Karl Marbach Junior. Marbach also produced the first 140-cavity thermoforming tool. In 2007 Karl G. Marbach retired from the management. In 2008 the new building at the headquarters in Heilbronn was completed. The company SysTec Complete Systems GmbH in Bad Urach, Germany, was taken over. In 2009, the Marbach greenplate was the first ecologically sustainable core board to be launched. The branches in France no longer exist. Marbach America Inc. in Charlotte, USA, was founded in 2011 and began production in 2012. Karl G. Marbach died in March 2012 at the age of 84. Marbach started production in Malaysia in 2014. The toolmaking department moved into a new hall in autumn 2014. The subsidiary in Bad Urach, which was taken over in 2008, was closed at the end of 2014, and 38 employees were laid off. In March 2018, the Marbach training center opened under the name Marbach Academy. (Practical training for participants from the fields of folding boxes, cigarette and corrugated cardboard packaging is offered here.) At the end of 2017, Marbach signed a joint venture agreement with Masterwork, a Chinese manufacturer of machines and systems for the packaging industry. Since July 2018 the company has been producing under the name Marbach Masterwork (Tianjin) Die Cutting Tools Co. Ltd. in China punching tools for the Chinese market. Since January 2019, the Marbach Group and the newly founded company Troqueles Marbach de Mexico SRL de CV. a headquarters in Quertaro, Mexico. In September 2019, Marbach America Inc. opened its second location in Michigan City, IN, after Charlotte, NC. After the two traditional Polish plants in Tarnowskie Góry and Kielce with a total of around 175 employees, the Marbach Group bought a plant in Poznan with 50 employees in September 2019. Marbach will take over all employees of Wykrojniki Polskie Sp.Z oo.
