Karl Mienes

Karl ( Charles ) Mienes (born February 3, 1905 , † April 23, 1990 ) was a German plastics chemist and technician.

Life

Karl Mienes studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen . In 1923 he became a member of the Corps Montania Aachen. After completing his studies and obtaining a doctorate as a Dr.-Ing. he worked at Dynamit AG in Troisdorf , which from 1938 assigned him to the Office for German Raw Materials. After the Second World War he became managing director of Isoplast GmbH in Godesberg in 1946. He later worked as a freelance researcher and expert in plastics chemistry. He received a professorship for plastics technology at RWTH Aachen University. Mienes wrote numerous papers on the technology of plastics and their economic importance.

Karl Mienes found his final resting place in a family grave in the Aachen forest cemetery .
