Karl Pieler (born September 29, 1871 in Dillenburg , † January 27, 1939 in Breslau ) was an engineer and general director.

Life

Karl Pieler was the second eldest son of the mining expert and general director of Ballstrem's industrial plants and estates, Franz Caspar Maria Pieler .

Karl Pieler

Pieler attended secondary school in Gleiwitz and then devoted himself to engineering in Berlin and Freiberg (Saxony). Until 1905 he worked as an engineer in Upper Silesia and for the Dortmund Union, founded the Schlesische Eisenbeton GmbH in Kattowitz in 1905 and introduced the new reinforced concrete construction method, which was still in its early stages, in the Upper Silesian industrial area. In 1911 the Schlesische Eisenbeton GmbH was converted into a stock corporation and in 1921 its management relocated to Berlin and changed to Industriebau AG. The field of work was extended to northern and central Germany. In 1927, Industriebau AG merged with Held & Francke Bauaktiengesellschaft , Berlin, to form Industriebau - Held & Francke Aktiengesellschaft, into which the settlement company Grosser & Klein, Berlin, was integrated. With the start of the global economic crisis , the newly created building conglomerate ran into financial difficulties just two years later. The issue of new shares in September 1930 did not save the corporation either. Large parts of the company could not be continued. The subsidiary Süddeutsche Held & Francke Bauaktiengesellschaft survived the severe crisis and from 1940 traded again as Held & Francke Bauaktiengesellschaft based in Munich. It was taken over decades later in 1990 by Philipp Holzmann AG . Due to the bankruptcy of Philipp Holzmann AG in 2002, Held & Francke Bauaktiengesellschaft also went bankrupt.
