The Charles Vögele AG , headquartered in Uznach is a Swiss shoe retail company.
history
The company has its roots in the shoemaking shop that Karl Vögele opened in Uznach in 1922 . In 1955, Vögele expanded its range to include mail order shoes. In 1956 he opened the first shoe fashion store in Chur . Karl Vögele AG was founded in 1960 when their son Max Vögele joined the company.
Under various brand names, the company sells a wide range of shoes in Switzerland through its own online shop and on Galaxus , through almost 200 branches, 75 sales outlets and 13 stores.
Until 2018, Karl Vögele AG was an independent family company, also a stock corporation, and employs around 1,700 people. At the head of the AG were Adrian Grossholz as CEO and Max Manuel Vögele, grandson of Karl Vögele, as Chairman of the Board of Directors. The shareholders until 2018 were the siblings Max Manuel Vögele, Alexander Vögele, Patricia Vögele, Paul Vögele and Hans-Peter Vögele.
In 2015 the company sold its shares in the Austrian subsidiary founded in 1965 to LMC Shoes Austria GmbH based in Berlin. In 2018, the Polish trading group CCC acquired the majority in Karl Vögele AG.
Since the logistics will be relocated to Poland , the purchase functionality of the online shop will be discontinued on September 23, 2019 and will be available again after a brief interruption.

Karl Vögele AG is an independent company and should not be confused with Charles Vögele Holding AG, founded by Max Vögele's brother .
