Karl Wahlmüller

Karl Wahlmüller (born October 22, 1913 in Linz , † February 16, 1944 in Toila , Estonian SSR ) was an Austrian football player . The runner won the silver medal with the Austrian amateur selection at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin .

Career

Karl Wahlmüller played for SV Urfahr Linz in the Upper Austrian regional league. At that time, the league was aimed at amateur players and was not connected to the professional Austrian championship, which at that time was limited to the Vienna area. With the Urfahren, the striker played for one of the strongest teams in the state at the time, and was in competition with LASK and Admira Linz . Coach Jimmy Hogan took him to the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, although he had not yet played a game for the Austrian amateur national team. Karl Wahlmüller was the middle runner in all four Austrian games in Berlin and reached the Olympic final with the team, where they lost 2-1 after extra time to the Italian representatives.
