Karlheinz Jakob

Karlheinz Jakob (born September 6, 1953 in Heilbronn ) is a German linguist and professor.

Life

He studied German and history at the University of Freiburg and in 1979 passed the state examination for a higher teaching post in the subjects of German and history. In 1984 received his doctorate Jacob with the dissertation dialect and regional language in Heilbronn at Hugo Steger at the University of Freiburg. In 1990/1991 he completed his habilitation with the work Habilitation Machine, Mental Model, Metaphor. Studies on the semantics and history of technical language . On February 20, 1991 he received the venia legendi for the subject Germanic Philology from the Senate of the University of Freiburg. In March 1991 he was awarded at the annual meeting of the Institute of German language the prize for Germanic Linguistics at the Hugo Moser Foundation . Since 1995 he has held the chair for German linguistics and language history at the TU Dresden . From 2009 to 2012 he was Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies at the TU Dresden.
