The Charles Oak ( lat. Robur Carolinum ) is a constellation of the southern sky that is not one of the 88 constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) .

Today the Karlseiche is part of the official constellations Kiel of the Ship (Carina) and Sails of the Ship (Vela). It is located in the eastern part of the two constellations mentioned, which earlier together with the aft deck of the ship (Puppis) formed the historical constellation Ship Argo .

The Karlseiche is traversed by the Milky Way and contains some relatively bright stars like μ Velorum 2.69 m , θ Carinae 2.74 m and ω Carinae 3.29 m . There are also numerous star clusters and nebulae in the oak, including the well-known Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) and the open star cluster IC 2602 .

The constellation was introduced by the English astronomer Edmond Halley in 1679 in honor of the English King Charles II.
