Carmine Acetic Acid
Carmine acetic acid (often abbreviated as KES ) is a solution of the color carmine (E 120) in acetic acid .
It is used to produce specimens for microscopy because it has the advantage of both staining (stains chromatin ) and simultaneously fixing the specimen.
Either a dilute solution of carmine in a half-concentrated acetic acid or the saturated solution is used. The employed also for the preparation of preparations Eisenkarmin is a solution of acetocarmine and iron (III) chloride .
