The Karolingerbrücke is a road bridge in Lower Franconia , which spans the Main at river kilometer 224.80 and connects Karlstadt with the district Karlburg as part of the state road 2435 . The bridge has two lanes and a footpath and bike path on the south side. The building is to relieve the Main Bridge Karlstadt . Before the construction of the access roads, extensive excavations were carried out in the route area between 2002 and 2003 in order to document the remains of an early medieval settlement.

The bridge superstructure of the approximately 306 m long girder bridge is a steel composite construction . The building system consists in the longitudinal direction of a three-span continuous beam with spans of 96.6 m and 71.0 m in the peripheral fields and 138.0 m in the central main field. In the transverse direction, the 12 m wide bridge between the railings has a two-web T- beam with steel, haunched solid wall main girders and a reinforced concrete deck .

The longitudinal girders were installed on both banks, pushed into the carriage and welded in the middle of the bridge. This was followed by the construction of the pavement slab in sections using the pilgrim step method .

In May 2006, the longest flower box in the world at 320 meters was attached to the bridge railing.
