Card painter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Map painters were originally manufacturers and reproducers of full-page, partly hand-colored woodcut boards with representations from the Bible, from the legends of saints , etc.

Soon this word was used to describe people who dealt with maps in an analogous way , ie cartographers , as well as people who dealt with playing cards accordingly , ie playing card painters.

Card painters belonged - as a painter , carver , and Glaser - to Kramer and carpenters' guild.
