Thomas J. O'Malley

Thomas J. O'Malley (* 1868 in Menasha , Wisconsin , †  May 27, 1936 in Hot Springs , Arkansas ) was an American politician . Between 1933 and 1936 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Wisconsin.

Career

Thomas J. O'Malley was the father of Congressman Thomas O'Malley (1903–1979). His grandson, Terence O'Malley, is a member of the Florida House of Representatives . He worked for the North Western Railroad as a conductor. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

In 1932 O'Malley was elected Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin alongside Albert G. Schmedeman . He held this office after a re-election between 1933 and his death on May 27, 1936. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . From 1935 he served under Schmedeman's successor, Philip La Follette . In 1936 he was planning to run for governor. But it shouldn't come to that because he suddenly died of a heart attack.
