List of Wisconsin Lieutenant Governors
Mandela Barnes , current Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin
The Office of the Lieutenant-Governor ( lieutenant governor ) of Wisconsin was in the course of the transformation of the territory to a state of the United States created and initially had a term of two years. With the 1979 constitutional amendment, if the lieutenant governor moves up to the vacant office of governor , he becomes a full governor and resigns from the office of lieutenant governor. Before 1979, the lieutenant governor also took over the governor's office, but he was only an acting governor . Furthermore, the term of office of the lieutenant governor was extended from two to four years in 1979.
