List of lieutenant governors of Delaware

Matthew P. Denn, Lieutenant Governor of Delaware until January 2015

The office of lieutenant governor ( Lieutenant Governor ) in the US state of Delaware has existed since the state constitution of 1897. The first election took place in 1900. The respective incumbent is the governor's first successor if the governor resigns, dies or is removed from his post. He also heads the State Senate as its President. Since the governor and lieutenant governor are not elected together (not on the same ticket ), they can both belong to different political parties.
