J. Danforth Bush

Joshua Danforth Bush ( December 4, 1868December 4, 1926 ) was an American politician . Between 1921 and 1925 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Delaware .

Career

J. Danforth Bush was born into a wealthy business family. His father George W. Bush (not related to the US president of the same name ) worked in the mail order business, in the coal business and in the wood industry. After his death in 1900, his sons continued to run the George W. Bush & Sons Company . Danforth became the company's vice president. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . For some time he also served as a major in the 59th Engineer Unit in the American armed forces.

In 1920, Bush was elected lieutenant governor of Delaware alongside William D. Denney . He held this office between 1921 and 1925. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he no longer appeared politically. He died on December 4, 1926 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery , Virginia .
