List of Lieutenant Governors of Minnesota
The office of lieutenant governor has existed in the US state of Minnesota since the state's accession to the Union in 1890. The lieutenant governor acts as a representative and, if necessary, a successor to the governor . A term of office was two years until 1962, and since then it has been four years.
Marlene Johnson became the first woman to be elected to this office in 1982. Since then it has been practiced by women throughout.
