C. Elmer Anderson
Clyde Elmer Anderson (born March 16, 1912 in Brainerd , Minnesota , † January 22, 1998 ibid) was an American politician and governor of the state of Minnesota from 1951 to 1955 .
Early years and political advancement
Elmer Anderson began studying at the University of Minnesota , but dropped out prematurely. He then worked for Service News Inc , which he bought and managed after a few years. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1939 and 1943 and from 1945 he was Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota.
Minnesota governor
After the resignation of Governor Luther Youngdahl , Anderson had to take over his office as deputy and end the term of office. On November 4, 1952, he was then confirmed as a candidate of his party by the voters of Minnesota in this office. This allowed him to serve as governor between September 27, 1951 and January 5, 1955. During his reign, Minnesota industry was promoted. In the field of health care, some laws for the nervous have been improved. The penal system and the prison system were reformed. In 1954, Anderson ran unsuccessfully for re-election.
Another résumé
After his governorship, Anderson was mayor of the cities of Nisswa and Brainerd. He died in January 1998. He had two children with his wife, Lillian Margaret Otterstad.
