Ray W. Jones

Ray Williams Jones (born April 5, 1855 in Remsen , Oneida County , New York , †  August 1, 1919 in Seattle , Washington ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Minnesota .

Career

Ray Jones came to Minnesota at an undisclosed point in time and worked in the timber, banking, and railroad businesses. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In June 1900, he took part as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia , on which President William McKinley was nominated for re-election.

In 1902, Jones was elected Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota alongside Samuel Rinnah Van Sant . He held this office between 1903 and 1907. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . From 1905 he served under the new Governor John Albert Johnson . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active. He died in Seattle on August 1, 1919. Since 1888 Ray Jones was married to Pauline B. Spitzley.
